Pedaled Wheelchair "COGY"**
Dr HANDA Yasunobu et al, Graduate school of medicine, Tohoku University, developed novel wheelchair which is smoothly powered and driven by legs of those who have difficulty in walking caused by damages from stroke, lower back pain, knee pain and so on. This technology was transferred to TESS Co., Ltd. (TESS) in Japan, and then further developed and commercialized as “Profhand” by TESS. Profhand adopts front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-steering systems capable of on-site turning, and enables to change the way it’s going freely even under narrow spaces such as in home and elevator.
